VAMC Wilkes-Barre, PA serves veterans throughout northeastern and central Pennsylvania and southern New York State. Visit us in our main Medical Center or one of our Six Community-Based Outpatient Clinics.
For your convenience and safety, we have special waiting areas throughout the facility. Please do not gather in the hallways or at the nurses' stations. You may also want to review our Visiting Hours and Policies.
We have volunteers who work in the Intensive Care waiting areas at specific times. Please check in, and give the volunteer the patient's name. If you leave the waiting area at any time, please let the volunteer know, in case we need to contact you.
VAMC Wilkes-Barre Police Officers are primarily responsible for the protection and care of patients and employees. This is accomplished with foremost concern for each patient's welfare and with extreme care that Medical Center Police handling does not result in physical injury or mental anguish to any patient. Report all suspicious or criminal activity, vehicle accidents, and personal property losses to the VA Police while on the facility grounds as soon as possible.

Because the VA Medical Center is federal property, all persons and bags are subject to search. In addition, no weapons, alcohol, or illegal drugs are permitted.
A nondenominational chapel is located on the first floor, west wing of the hospital. The Chaplain Offices are located on the eighth floor, Rooms C8-65 and C8-64. The Chapel is open from 8:00am to 4:30pm for prayer and meditation. The Chaplain staff concerns itself with the spiritual needs of the veterans.
Following admission, every patient is visited by a Chaplain for spiritual assessment. Denominational literature is available. Bedfast patients are given the opportunity for Sacramental Comfort. Patients who would like to be visited by a chaplain for services, including Pastoral Counseling, are asked to notify the Nursing Unit Staff.
