"Walking Toward a Cure"

The Women Veterans Program at the Wilkes-Barre Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center is sponsoring a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk on Friday, October 19th at 10:00 a.m. on the Medical Center’s campus. All Staff, Veterans, their families, friends and neighbors are invited to take part in "Walking Toward a Cure" in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. All Participants are encouraged to Wear Your Pink in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness! (PINK Shirts, Scrubs, Skirts, Ribbons, Flowers, Shoes, Wigs, Ties, etc....) Participants will meet in the Main Entrance Atrium. The walk will be followed by a Veterans Benefits and Healthy Lifestyle Fair in Liberty Hall.

"It is important that the Veteran community be aware of the importance of breast cancer prevention and the various healthcare services that the VA provides", according to Pat Conroy, Women Veterans Program Manager at the Wilkes-Barre, VA. "We want to make this event fun as well as informative.”
The VA Medical Center continues to implement programs to meet the healthcare needs of the men and women who have served in our military. The Veterans Healthy Lifestyle Fair will give all Veterans an opportunity to meet the staff, have some fun and become familiar with many of the services and programs available to them.
