Wilkes-Barre VA Hospital Service Coordinator
JUNE 6, 2013 – Veterans of the Vietnam War, Inc. and The Veterans Coalition presented Leonard Croop with a certificate of appreciation at the Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center. The certificate was in recognition of Mr. Croop’s “outstanding and generous support of Veterans.”
Leonard Croop coordinates the program and is the Hospital Service Coordinator for the Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Volunteer Transportation Network (VTN). The program, a joint initiative between DAV and the Wilkes-Barre VA, provides transportation for Veterans to their medical appointments at no cost to the Veteran. Dedicated volunteers give their time to drive the vans and logged 187,560 miles last year. The program has provided transportation for Veterans to almost 7,000 appointments.

The Wilkes-Barre VA Medical Center (WBVAMC) is a 173-bed, teaching facility located in Luzerne County, Pennsylvania. Each year, WBVAMC serves over 40,000 Veterans in approximately 18 counties in Pennsylvania and New York with over 378,000 outpatient visits. In addition to the main facility, the facility operates five Community Based Outpatient Clinics which are located in Allentown, Williamsport, Sayre, Bangor and Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania.
